Women Who WP – The Next Chapter

If you have been watching Women Who WP grow, then you know we are strong advocates of the WordPress community. Many of us attend other local Meetups, in addition to Women Who WP, and are involved with the organization of WordCamps. We seek to bring others into the WordPress community and shed light into what that means through social media. We encourage everyone to play any role they can in enhancing their local WordPress community.

We are doing the same. Women Who WP applied to be part of the official WordPress Meetup Program and were approved. We are now the women’s group associated with the OC WordPress Meetup. This step allows us to be a light to others who are interested in developing similar WordPress specialty Meetups.

We’ve attracted a lot of interest in our first year as an organization. We’ve had more than 12 chapter requests in other states and countries. We considered setting up the organizational structure to allow for chapters, and then we realized it was already in place. Becoming an official WordPress Meetup builds WordPress locally, creates a safe place for our members and brings more awareness to the need for groups like ours. We are encouraging all would-be Women Who WP chapters to go through the official WordPress Meetup Program.

Together we are better. Together we are stronger. Together we are more visible.

Our mission remains the same.

Women Who WP brings together women who blog, design, develop, and market in the WordPress community. Our Meetups begin with introductions and a 15-30 minute pre-determined discussion on a WordPress topic. The meeting concludes with each attendee sharing something they learned about WordPress in the previous 30 days. It’s a formula that works.

Our OC Women’s WordPress Meetup meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Mimi’s Cafe in Fountain Valley, California at 6:30 p.m. and we encourage our members to attend our other local WordPress Meetups.  All skill levels are welcome as we meet to inspire, connect, educate and challenge one another over a delicious meal. Dinner is provided by our generous event sponsor. Want to join Women Who WP?
